Nuts to Pikachu, I Choose the Evil Space Deer!

In this episode, the boys recall that having a Pokemon expert on the show means you should actually talk Pocket Monsters. Steve Black Jr. of It’s Super Effective weighs in on Pokemon X/Y and the radical and not-so-radical changes that players might expect. And after actually using Vine for a few weeks, turns out Mark and Alex have more to say about it, so they pull Steve into a conversation on how Vine factors into the broader world of video making apps and services on the web. This is 8-Bit Dairyland’s nineteenth show.

DISCLAIMER:  Despite our best efforts, Garageband used a level 20 Mangle Audio on Steve’s track in this episode, and no number of Full Restores could completely clear it up. Beware a great conversation with some muddy audio ahead.

Poke-shot

In this episode, the boys brave the darkest Pokemon subreddits on the Internet in order to provide a xenobiological challenge for celebrated Pokemon expert and host of It’s Super Effective, Steve Black Jr. Thankfully, he wasn’t offended too greatly by that conversation to join us for talk about the commonalities between grooming a team of soldiers in XCOM and a team of Pokemon for the Elite Four. Also, Steve has Mailbox. Mark and Alex do not, so Steve gets to drop some knowledge while Mark and Alex stare at six digit numbers waiting for their turn using the much-hyped iOS mail client. This is 8-Bit Dairyland’s eighteenth show.

Christie Zuckerberg, Twenty Six-Never

In this episode, things get a bit tense when a friendly conversation about simple video sharing/dick video app Vine takes a turn for the serious when Alex explains why he’s ditched Facebook for good. Then things get even serious-er when Mark dares to be excited for an HD version of cel-shaded boat simulator that is The Legend of Zelda: Wind Waker, coming to the WiiU. Alex has opinions on that as well. This is 8-bit Dairyland’s seventeenth show.

CORRECTION: The boys should have done some research before they ragged on the Surface Pro install size–Windows 8 doesn’t take up ALL of that 20 GB on the 64 GB model. Some that space is eaten up by a recovery partition–which is still a lot.

In CES (t)

The boys never made it to Vegas this year, but that’s okay, because Mark is more focused on getting new Pokeymans for his hypocritical 3DS to think about much else. They do manage to chat a bit about Steam hardware rumors and 4K televisions for a bit, so this is still technically a CES show. Misadventures in sketchy Windows 8 licensing close it out. This is 8-Bit Dairyland’s sixteenth show.

Instagram This!

In this episode, Alex’s brain is broken. He thinks he’s people. Mark couches his hatred for Instagram filters in a quiet rage about the broken promises of changes Facebook has brought to the service. The boys pine for the simpler days of Nintendo Power before giving sorta praise to the latest redesign of iTunes. This is 8-Bit Dairyland’s fifteenth show.

They Call Me Trello Yellow

Master Chief hogs the spotlight this week as the boys discuss the long awaited Halo 4. Alex had no idea there were Halo novels, but hey, reading’s not really his thing. The Jawbone Up makes its triumphant return after a long and hopefully restful vacation, and Mark tries to make Alex use an Internet thing (Trello). This is 8-bit Dairyland’s fourteenth show.

Bonusode! | Patent Pending

The boys launch into a lengthy discussion on the state of video apps and platforms.

Slenderman Sucks

In this episode, Alex and Mark meditate on Pokemon rights before delving into some chat about FTL, wherein Mark realizes that the totally cool space simulation he’s been playing is actually really boring when you describe it out loud. Alex gets excited about in-browser HTML and CSS design tools to the point of totally blowing our sponsorship deal with Adobe. And to get into the October spirit, the boys brainstorm some scary game ideas, including the sketchiest iOS port of Slender that Alex could find. This is 8-bit Dairyland’s thirteenth show.

Bonusode! | Just Inject the DLC into my Veins

In this episode, Mark vaguely remembers playing a match three game with a numerical name before confessing his relapse into the digital black tar heroin that is Harmonix-brand DLC for Rock Band Blitz.

We Know Nothing About Women

The boys are back and Mark already has to defend himself to Alex for his stance on sucking stem cells out of babies. iOS 6 has been out for a while, but they talk about it anyway. Mark plays the smash pirate hit MCPIXEL, while they both slaughter pronouncing Sos Sosowski.. sou.. sosous… Mikolaj Kuminski!  All of that, and still time for printer trolling. This is 8-bit Dairyland’s twelfth show.
